I reserve the right to adjust any course syllabus and/or policies at any point throughout the year with the promise to notify you should this occur. 

Course Materials

Students enrolled in any of the classes listed above are responsible for procuring the following items and maintaining them with them throughout the year. In addition to these, students are expected to have a laptop or tablet and charging cable. Please note that students may check out a device from the school for a small insurance fee.

Materials: 

• Loose-leaf paper
• Pens (blue or black ink preferred)
• Pencils (mechanical okay)
• Highlighters (4-color pack)
• Marble notebook (no spiral bound!!)
• Folder or binder
• Post-it notes 

2026 Summer Reading Assignments

Incoming students for Dual Enrollment Writing and Rhetoric 1 do not have summer assignments. You should take the time to practice for the PERT Reading and Writing sections to ensure you receive qualifying scores to remain in the program.

Directions for Ordering your FIU Transcript

**This is best done using a computer. You will need a debit or credit card.

• WAIT for your grade to appear under Academic Records!!! (Current ENC 1102 students must wait till mid June of 2026.)
• Go to https://my.fiu.edu/
• Log in using your Panther ID number as your username (it usually starts with a "6") and the password you created. Please note if you haven't logged into your FIU account in the past month, you will need to reset your password.
• Once you are logged in, click on the Academic Records tile.
• From the lefthand dropdown menu, select Transcripts, then Request Official Transcript.
• Follow the steps from there. It's fairly easy. I recommend you select the electronic option, wherein they send your transcript directly to your institution. If you select the hardcopy option, you will need to keep it sealed within the envelope and deliver it yourself.
• Trouble logging into your account? You will need to call FIU to reset your password: 305-348-2284.
